Background
The GPA was founded in 1999 as an official autonomous representative body for senior inter-county GAA players. Based in Dublin, the GPA is a wholly self-funded, not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to player welfare and the protection of the rights of players. The GPA is officially recognised by the GAA and currently has over 2000 playing members.
Membership Database
Problem:
When iCreative met with the GPA, their current membership system was in need of radical overhaul. They had been trying for 18 months without success to get a functional system whereby players could renew membership online and also join online. Less than 10% of players used their existing online signup and it could take 2 months to get a renewal rate of 40%.
Staff also needed a dataset system that could export user information based on search criteria. Their existing system included several steps which was difficult to use and cumbersome.Solution:
iCreative built a new membership system whereby existing members received an SMS text message with login details that allowed them to login to the GPA website and very easily renew online. Existing Members were also able to update their own details and also inform the GPA if they had retired. New members could also easily signup and each new signup could be activated in the admin backend with one click. Once a member was activated, they automatically received an email with their account login details and full account information.
iCreative also Integrated powerful search functions so the GPA staff could break down members by any profile such as county, age, sport, job status, etc... This allowed the GPA to quickly locate and view/edit member details. We also integrated an export system that allowed the GPA to export to excel their various reports.Outcome:
iCreative provided a first class solution within 8 weeks that made an immediate impact. The GPA achieved a member renewal of 60% within 72 hours. Within one week they had a 90% renewal rate. New member signups also increased by over over 500% compared to them same time period the previous year. This saved them a huge amount of resources and time.
The GPA member database system is now a fully up to date system where players can update their own details. This allows the GPA to engage with their members knowing that they have up to date information. They can communicate with members through targeted mail-shots and now consistently achieve a much higher member response rate which has allowed them to improve their player related welfare services.
Once iCreative understood the client problems we used a combination of website development, website design, and programming skills to successfully complete the project. We are now working with the GPA to see how we can further enhance the member online experience.
